New to the hobby? We don’t require you to know all of the anime series we’ve watched or name ten animation studios and story illustrators. Hobbies are loved in varying degrees as I have said so several times in the past. But, here’s the deal: Always remember that you represent EVERYONE ELSE in the hobby when you make a fool of yourself in public or in photos. Or act rude when in fact you've just poked someone’s eyes out with your massive props. It’s like a uniform, when you wear your costume it’d be what people would label with whatever small knowledge they have of cosplay.

Been thinking to update/renovate the form of content I've been posting here. I don't like wasting people's time so I'll transform my cosplay and life escapades to things with what I learn from them. Things I get from the random adventures I have in cosplay and in life in general. What do you mean? Like a life lesson or practical tutorials like what I've done so far, bits of light tutorial, costume making, photography and posing to be specific. Lesson 01: PATIENCE GRASSHOPPERNot a lot of edits on this, more of a practice for team "RedCurry" on simply using our wits and a beautiful venue. It took a while to plan and have the right amount of funds. But look! It's worth it, I'll tell you right off I regret nothing. The venue was the right choice and everything just fell according to place. At times, it's really better to wait then to rush and force things (Which I usually do)
This day was very testing really, from crazy traffic jams from my place and crazy full parking places so early in the morning all we were able to do was wait. And it did bear fruit. Though honestly, I did not get the shot I wanted. Patience: To the people outside this hobby: Why waste so much time/money on such silly things? Well, as you might invest on an iphone or partying these are what takes up our time. It's not that our lives are boring, quite the opposite most of us are creative individuals who require an outlet. If you have family who enjoy this kind of past time, have a little bit of patience with them. We aren't inconsiderate if you have a point we would listen. As long as you do the same for us. A 'waste' of time is only defined but what kind of return you expect. :) We expect nothing but beautiful photos and memories to look back on. As it seems to be how it is with me and my little plans, it was a rough start with this shoot. I once again crammed everything in a day or so and had to make my own megaphone and sewed my own gloves. As the dye was the wrong color. (False advertising!! The packaging was almost a 'teal to cyan' but the dye color was almost royal blue) To add to those, I was seriously getting worse health wise. I had flu, a slight fever and I was getting dizzy very easily. I went to work almost the whole week and still pursued the shoot. I'm not yet happy with the outputs though. I mean nothing is exactly 'blowing my mind' just yet. I hope it gets better and that there will be shots that are worth looking at a little more and processing further.
EGL Costume: work in progressThe venue that was planned before hand has already been demolished, so in moving forward in plans we've only rushed ideas and have yet to see if this proves fruitful. I hope it does though, even if I had to make my own megaphone from scratch (Budget constraints "OTL ) And most of these were made a couple of hours. I even had to make my own gloves as the dye I bought for my gloves didn't work out as I wanted. *sigh*
In any case, I'll still hope for the best. Am not saying I'm personally a liar, am not. I try to be as blunt as possible, but reality would tell us that a pretty face won't necessarily equate to a good heart/personality. It's the age old question of good looks and good personalities-- Just don't get fooled by the short skirt and long lashes, she might be the worse bitch or bastard to prowl upon your wallet since your favorite nendo came out or that new Assassin's Creed game.
Hatsune Miku, I think I've mentioned her more than 10 times on this blog of mine now. And I regret no bit of it. If there was one singular character that I cosplay almost monthly it's her. I love the concept art that go with the PV. I love how people who know how to compose and can create beautiful music but have no exact means to, can do it with her.
The possibilities she present, the hope, and all the words that she takes across continents is just magical! Another of many from the set of my Rei Ayanami cosplay. In all honesty I don't know what to do with the rest of the shots from all of the sets. They aren't exactly outstanding or anything so it's pretty hard to put them anywhere. The costumes I made are pretty decent I suppose, but shot wise... I'm none too sure. And so before I start getting myself depressed even further, Sentimental Rei Ayanami/KuriCurry out! <o
As Shingeki no Kyojin comes to a close, we say fare thee well to one of the best anime this season. I hope something replaces it, something as dark or even something as intriguing. I am hoping there isn't a rain of moe blobs with a penchant for song and dance and whatnot. Not all the viewers are male lolicons... "OTL Please have mercy
September 30 is the lead heroine's birthday in the series Sword Art Online.
As a very conceited tribute, I gathered some of my favorite photos from the costumes and my cosplays of her. The confusion, and the thousand of times she has probably been cloned - that is the tragedy that is "Rei Ayanami". I seriously love her character even though I first got to know her from a local tv show here in the Philippines. It was seriously not the kind of show you'd let children watch. But I guess, because of EVA we definitely became a generation of open minded youth.
Technical aspects of the photo: A Nikon D700 was used to shoot the actual image of my Rei Ayanami cosplay. And the cockpit was rendered and modelled FROM SCRATCH in Blender 3D. Then I composited the photo in Photoshop CS6 to finalize the entire image. |
